Church Ministry Intern, Jacob Ignacio

Church Ministry Intern, Jacob Ignacio

Jacob Ignacio picFirst Baptist Church of Oxford is grateful to announce the arrival of our Church Ministry Intern, Jacob Ignacio. He will be serving with us for at least the next year. Jacob’s primary responsibilities are working with children’s ministry, teen ministry, and helping with community outreach. He and his wife, Rachel, live in the church’s second parsonage.

Jacob was born and raised on the island of Guam. His ancestry is Chamorro, the native people of Guam. Jacob’s parents are first-generation Christians, so he grew up in church, hearing the truth of God spoken on a regular basis. However, he did not personally trust in the Lord until he was a sophomore in high school. His home church as a youth was Harvest Baptist Church in Guam.

After graduation, Jacob moved to Wisconsin and attended Northland International University, majoring in Church Music with an emphasis in voice. It was while a student at NIU that he met Rachel, a native of Lake Orion, MI. They both graduated from college in the spring of 2013.

After college, Jacob accepted a position at Faith Christian Academy in McAllen, Texas, where he served as a music teacher, choir director, physical education teacher, and Bible teacher. After teaching for a year, Jacob married Rachel and moved to Bourbonnais, Illinois and joined the ministry of Grace Christian Academy. During the next two years he taught band, choir, physical education and health.

In May 2016, Jacob and Rachel moved to Oxford, Michigan and joined the ministry of First Baptist Church. Jacob stated, “We are excited to see what the Lord has for us here at First Baptist Church of Oxford. My wife and I love working with teens. God has given us a passion for investing in teenagers’ lives and guiding them towards Christ.”

Jacob has several hobbies, including biking, swimming, gardening, flying kites and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoys music, both observing and performing.
