Here at FBC Oxford we have programs and ministry opportunities for folks of all ages. Each program is designed to provide a scheduled, structured opportunity to meet needs and develop relationships. Take a look to see which programs are available for you or your family… nursery ministry, children’s ministry, teen ministry, or adult ministry. You can also view a summary of our Christian education programs and curriculum.

Nursery Ministry

Our youngest ones at church receive very special attention! We operate a nursery for all Sunday services for children from birth up to three years of age. The nursery is located on the main level just across the foyer from our auditorium. Dedicated restroom facilities for children in the nursery are immediately accessible. A private area is reserved for mothers with nursing children.

If a little one has any special requirements, we encourage parents to make that known to the nursery workers at check-in. If a need arises during a service, the nursery workers will have the head usher contact the parent quickly and discreetly.

Our nursery director maintains at least two adults in the nursery for all services. Every individual that works with minors is a member of the church and has completed a rigorous, professional background check through an independent agency. We want every parent to feel confident their little one will be cared for in a loving and safe environment so they can concentrate on worship, instruction and fellowship.

Children’s Ministry

We have programs for children on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. A clean, well-staffed nursery is available for all services. Everyone who works with our children is a member of this church and has successfully completed a professional background check.

Sunday School

Every Sunday morning throughout the year, we have age-appropriate Sunday School classes for preschool to teen-age children. We have an excellent staff of qualified, dedicated, spiritual teachers who are excited about faithfully teaching God’s Word!

Junior Church

During the last song in the morning worship service, the children (pre-school through 3rd grade) are dismissed to attend Children’s Church. During their time together they will sing more songs, work on crafts and explore a Bible lesson.

Awana BannerDuring the school year (Sept-May), kids in kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to attend AWANA clubs. The name is an acronym, Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, based on 2 Timothy 2:15, which emphasizes the importance of learning and properly using the Bible, God’s Holy Word.

The children meet in two different age-group clubs:* Sparks (K-2nd gr); and TNT (Truth & Training, gr. 3-6). Children will learn Bible verses, play games, and be challenged by a short devotional. Some special events are also planned during the year.

*Note: We will not have a Cubbies group for fall 2016. But we do plan to restart that club as soon as possible.

A van route is available for children whose families are not able to provide transportation.

You can find information about the current AWANA year on the church web site. Contact our church office if you have additional questions.

Vacation Bible School

Each summer the church provides a week-long outreach program for children from our church and our entire community. Vacation Bible School is a great time for children from our church and throughout the community to learn about God and his gracious offer of salvation. There are also practical Bible lessons to help children with growth and maturity issues. Each day’s schedule includes rally time (singing, awards, team competition), Bible lesson, missionary story, refreshments, and outdoor group game time.

Teen Ministry

We have programs for teens on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. Teens are also encourage to attend the Sunday evening service and our once-a-month YAC events. Our youth meet in the teen room (annex building), which is equipped with casual furniture, ping-pong table, foosball, and several other recreational resources. Everyone who works with our teens is a member of this church and has successfully completed a professional background check. Additional information for the current year Teen Ministry programs is available on the church website.

Sunday School

Our teens meet in their own class during Sunday school. This provides opportunity for life-specific application of lessons. It also allows for a more casual instructional environment. The class hour includes time for sharing prayer requests and praises, talking about events in their lives, and studying God’s Word to learn principles and priorities for effective Christian living.

On Wednesday evening our youth meet for Pro-Teens. This time allows for some exciting competition (individual or team), prayer and singing, relaxed interaction with other teens and adult mentors, and a lesson based on the Bible dealing with practical issues and foundational life principles.

Youth-After-Church fellowships are planned once each month. These meetings are held in the homes of different church members. It provides a great opportunity for teens to relax, enjoy a delicious meal, sing, play games, and be challenged from God’s Word.

NBT Teen Rally

Each summer our church sponsors an outreach activity for teenagers. It is open to any teens in the community entering 7th grade through high school. Each evening NBT Teen Rally includes time for fast-paced individual and team competitive games, plenty of food, and practical challenges from the Bible. We desire to help teens know about salvation in Christ, as well growing and maturing in the Lord. We would love to have you/your teen join us for the week, or any evening they can attend. And friends, and friends of friends, are always welcome!

Adult Ministry

In addition to the all-church worship services each Sunday, several scheduled programs are available to minister to spiritual growth and development needs of adults at FBCO.

Sunday School–The adult Bible class meets in the auditorium. This ministry provides in-depth Bible instruction in a casual format, with plenty of opportunity for class interaction. The curriculum rotates between OT books, NT books, Bible doctrines, and topical studies. Additional information about Adult Sunday School is available on the church website.

Ladies Bible Study–There are currently two opportunities for the ladies to meet for Bible study. On Monday evening (7:00 p.m.) and Tuesday morning (10:00 a.m.) on a bi-weekly basis, the ladies gather for fellowship, group Bible study, and refreshments. Normally, a theme is chosen for the year and ladies can work along in their own study book to prepare for the group meeting. Additional information about this year’s Ladies Bible Study is available on the church website.

Adelphe Circle–This meeting for women (Adelphe comes from the Greek word for “sisters”) focuses on practical ministry projects. It is held on a Thursday evening once a month during the school year and rotates location among church member homes. It also provides a great opportunity for fellowship. Additional information about this year’s Adelphe Circle ministry is available on the church website.

College & Career–During the school year our College & Career group meets twice a month for a “study fellowship.” A practical book is chosen to read through and discuss, one chapter per meeting. Plus we enjoy delicious food and warm fellowship in a rotating set of home locations. We also plan additional activities periodically throughout the year.

Men’s Breakfast–Three or four times a year a Real Men breakfast fellowship is planned. The location rotates between the church and different church member homes. Some meetings are linked with exciting outdoor activities. All meetings provide lots of delicious food, warm fellowship, and a practical challenge from God’s Word.

Senior Saints–We have an active group of seniors. Various activities are planned throughout the year. Some recent examples include: fall color tour, Christmas light tour, dinner outings. Additional information about this year’s Senior Saints ministry is available on the church website.

5th Sunday Fellowships–Whenever a month contains five Sundays, a 5th Sunday Fellowship is scheduled. This includes a church-wide luncheon, followed by a brief afternoon praise service. On those days the evening service is cancelled.
